What you are buying
Pharos itself is open source under the AGPL-3.0 and costs nothing. What is sold here is a licence key that unlocks additional rights or features:
- Brand pack — a one-off purchase. The key does not expire.
- Supported and Commercial — annual subscriptions. Each key is valid for twelve months and a new one is issued automatically on renewal.
Delivery is immediate and by email, to the address given at checkout. Keys can be retrieved again at any time from your account. Prices shown include any applicable VAT.
A licence is granted to the buyer named on it. It does not transfer ownership of the software, and it does not restrict the rights the AGPL-3.0 already gives you over the open-source core.
Licence terms
The Pharos core is licensed under the GNU AGPL-3.0; the full text ships in the repository as LICENSE. You may run, copy, modify and redistribute it under those terms, including under your own brand. The AGPL asks one thing in return: if you modify Pharos and let others reach it over a network, you must offer them the modified source.
- Brand pack and Supported keys do not change the licence of the software. They unlock branding and, with Supported, access to support; updates are free for every installation and the core stays AGPL-3.0 underneath.
- The commercial licence is a separate agreement that lifts the network-publication obligation for the licensee’s own modifications. It is sold per organisation, is valid for twelve months, and is quoted individually — write to [email protected] or use the contact form.
- Running an unmodified Pharos for your own customers, at any scale, needs no licence and obliges you to nothing.
Keys are Ed25519 signatures verified locally by the software. No key ever phones home, and a key that has run out only ends support — the Brand pack and the installation keep working. Keys are tied to the status page domain given at checkout.
Right of withdrawal
If you buy as a consumer in the EU you normally have fourteen days to withdraw from a distance purchase without giving a reason.
Because a licence key is digital content delivered immediately, checkout requires you to confirm that you want delivery to start at once and that you therefore lose the right of withdrawal once the key has been sent. That confirmation is recorded with your order.
If you would rather keep the fourteen days, do not complete checkout. Write to [email protected] instead and we will invoice you and issue the key once the period has passed.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to purchases made in the course of a business.
Refunds
If a key does not work and we cannot make it work, you get your money back — that applies whether or not the withdrawal period is still running. Write to [email protected].
Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current twelve-month term runs out as paid.
Privacy
The controller is the trader named above. We process:
| Data | Why | Basis | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name and email | To issue the licence and let you sign in to your account | Performance of the contract | While you hold a licence, then 6 years for tax records |
| Payment details | Handled entirely by Stripe; we never see your card | Performance of the contract | See Stripe's own policy |
| Billing records | Legal accounting obligations | Legal obligation | 6 years |
| Contact form | Name, email, company (if given), what you are asking about, your message, the page you sent it from and your browser’s user-agent string — to answer you and to tell bots from people | Legitimate interest (answering a question you asked) | 12 months, or as long as the conversation it started |
Account (/account) | Name, email, the licence keys issued to you and Stripe order references, so you can sign in and retrieve keys | Performance of the contract | While you hold a licence, then 6 years for tax records |
The contact form
The form on the home page posts what you typed, as JSON, to an automation server (n8n) that we run ourselves; it delivers the message to us as a Telegram notification and by e-mail. Nothing is sent to a third-party form service. A hidden field in the form catches automated submissions; a message that fills it is discarded, not stored.
Processors
Stripe Payments Europe Ltd (payments, Ireland), Contabo GmbH (hosting, Germany), Cloudflare, Inc. (CDN and DDoS protection in front of this site; sees your IP address and request headers in transit), Telegram Messenger Inc. (delivers contact-form messages to us as a notification; sees the message text) and our mail provider for sending the licence email. We do not sell data, run advertising trackers, or profile you.
Installed copies of Pharos
A Pharos installation checks pharos.solutionmax.net/releases/latest.json once an hour
to learn whether a newer release exists. That request carries no account, licence or page data
— only what any HTTP request carries (the server’s IP address and user-agent), which
Cloudflare and our web server log for a short time. The check can be switched off under
Settings → General. Licence keys are verified on the installation itself and never contact us.
You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing — write to [email protected]. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority (AEPD) or the authority in your own country.
Cookies and analytics
The pages of this site (home, documentation, this page) set no cookies at all and load no analytics — no Umami, no Plausible, no Google tag. The marketing website and documentation serve their web fonts from this website; your browser does not contact Google Fonts to load them. Signing in to your account sets two cookies — a session cookie and a CSRF token — which are required for that page to work at all and hold no tracking identifier.
Applicable law
Spanish law applies. If you buy as a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in. Consumer disputes may also be raised through an applicable alternative dispute resolution body.
