Languages
Updated 2026-10-09 · Pharos 1.0.0
Pharos comes in four languages: English, Dutch, German and Spanish. There are two separate choices that do not affect each other: the language of the admin, which every account sets for itself, and the language of each public status page.
| Setting | Where | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Admin language | Profile, under Preferences, then Save preferences | Only your own admin screens. Colleagues keep their own choice. |
| Public page language | Appearance → Layout, then Save status page | That status page, the mails to its subscribers and the incidents that checks open by themselves. |
A new account and a new status page start in English. With several status pages, each page has its own language, so one installation can serve a Dutch page and a Spanish page side by side.
What follows the page language
- All fixed text on the status page, the incident pages and the monthly report, and the way dates are written.
- Status names, on the page and also in badges, the RSS feed and the widget.
- The built in wording of the mails to subscribers, and the messages a visitor sees when the subscribe form refuses an address.
- The title and the first update of an incident that a failing check opens.
What stays as you wrote it
- Names and descriptions of services and components.
- Incident and maintenance messages you write yourself.
- Mail templates you have edited. Only the built in wording is translated.
A page has one language. Visitors cannot switch it themselves, so pick the language most of your readers use. The API follows neither setting.
